About

Hello.

Who am I? Why am I here? What is here for me?

Simply put, I am Ron Page, database administrator, amateur photographer, geek and dreamer.

I’ve been working with SQL Server since 2004 starting with SQL Server 2000. Initially as one of those annoying end users who clog up servers, then as a BI developer who clutters up servers with code and then finally in 2009 I began on the path to Administration, it was here where I learned that we could have perfect servers if it wasn’t for those pesky people who continually use and abuse my beloved servers.

I’ve been working on one set of servers over my entire SQL career, although I have transferred companies via the whole outsourcing thing. So, please, please, please, bear this in mind!

Although I’m a DBA by title, I’m also draw into conversations on SSIS, SSRS and some design ideas – my head is forever in the clouds (fluffy kind not the Azure version) so tend to think a bit more abstractly.

In short, I’m not an expert, and only have experiance of one company, so please look at anything on here as inspiration and basis for ideas, if you try it and it blows up, on your head (although a video might be funny).

Did I mention that I’m a very unfunny comedian?

My other passion is photography, preferably landscapes, archiecture, nature and macro. So you may see ideas and attempts crop up now and again. Of all the techy bits I own in my life, my Nikon D90 is my most beloved item.

So, there you have, feel free to wonder and follow @sqlfodder if you wish.
